“I am as much the plant as I am the  seed.”

Terra Isis Gitane is an interdisciplinary storyteller who explores the indefinite constructs of society through a multifaceted range of disciplines. As societal expectations have often brought her to a state of estrangement, she found a way to translate those feelings of discomfort into her strength, paving new patterns through her unconventional approach to photography, poetry and graphic design. She invites the viewer to reconnect to a state of belonging to oneself, realising we are as much the plant as we are the seed, knowing some questions do not hold answers.

Fields of Work

  • Personalized Poetry

Through the Kamele N’goni and voice I weave soundscapes and narrative poetry together. From my layered perception of the internal and external Diaspora, I manoeuvre through a vulnerable and raw experience of rooting and uprooting.

  • Storytelling

Storytelling is at the root of all the disciplines I practice. To interweave a message through everything I create is to embody the ever-flowing process of becoming.

  • Personalized Photography

Photography is a medium of curiosity, of speaking a language that exists beyond the linear concepts of time. It is a medium in which I uncover my own resilience and the resilience of the world around me. Documenting the versatility of being enables me to redefine the transience of life.

  • Graphic Design

Graphic Design enables diversity within the disciplines I practice; it ranges from image manipulation to designing magazines and posters.
